In 1865 Heinrich Freese established in Kiel a wholesale trade with raw material for plaited and twisted goods with the main market being Scandinavia. 1896 August Freese and Rudolf Freese, sons of Heinrich Freese become partners in the company.
By establishing own contacts to Asia, India and Madagascar the company succeeded around 1900 to start direct importation and thereby enlarging the scope of trade substantially. In 1935 Walter Freese, son of August Freese, becomes partner.
